About Zanetta

Zanetta L. Collins' life story is a powerful testament to resilience, faith, and transformation. Born to Valerie and Luther Collins Jr. in Fort Ord, California, Zanetta faced a tumultuous upbringing but channeled her energy into sports, which opened the door to higher education through a basketball scholarship. Despite battling personal demons such as depression, anxiety, borderline alcoholism, molestation, & homosexuality just to name a few,  Zanetta's determination saw her through.

Her journey was marked by significant challenges, including the responsibility of raising her son, De’Vyon Amir-Malik Collins, while striving for academic and professional success. Zanetta earned an AA Degree in Communications from Eastern Florida College and a BA in Psychology from Edward Waters University. Despite her educational achievements, finding stable employment proved difficult.

Undeterred, Zanetta enlisted in the United States Army, but medical issues led to her discharge. Returning home to Cocoa, Florida, she experienced a profound spiritual awakening on August 18, 2009, when she accepted Christ as her Savior. This pivotal moment set her on a path of self-discovery and purpose.

Post-conversion, Zanetta pursued a career in cosmetology which is where she created her company Z's Contouring & Cuts where she has been in business for 14 years. During this time Zanetta also realized that she had a passion for writing and publishing.

Zanetta has authored several literary works, including a book of poetry, “Through My Eyes,” and three other significant publications: “The Colors of My Wings” (2013), “Once Broken” (2016), and “The Weight in the Wait” (2020). Zanetta has also published works by other authors, such as Constance Burrell’s “Silence Her No More” (2018).

The tragic loss of her son De’Vyon on June 17, 2020, was a profound and devastating blow. Yet, Zanetta found strength in her faith to persevere. During that season of her life, she wrote her most recent literary work, “The Potter’s Wheel,” which was published after the death of her son in 2020,

In 2024, Zanetta decided to walk away from barbering and start two new companies one is DAMC Logistics, LLC.,  which is a delivery service that concentrates on serving those in need within the community this company's foundation is based on faith, legacy, commitment, & service which is identified in their slogan, where "For You We Will!"

After identifying yet another gift of servitude Zanetta is also, in the process of developing a non-profit organization entitled "The Blueprint," "The Blueprint" will focus on helping this generation of youth etch out their own path in life. She believes that not every child has been given a map to success and she desires to be the person that show's them, hence the title, what they are capable of creating within themselves through faith, hard work discipline, and education!
